Abstract

PURPOSE:To equalize the level of an overvoltage applied to an application terminal or a stage near an earth terminal to that of a voltage to another stage. CONSTITUTION:One module 7 consists of thyristor element 1, stack 2, anode reactor 3, voltage divider circuit 4, dampling circuit 5, and element ignition circuit 6. Next, several modules 7 are connected in series on a stage into a thyristor bulb. In this case, however, fewer modules 7 are provided to stages 91 to 9n close to the anode and cathode of the bulb in comparison with stages 92 to 9n-1, and empty modules 12 are arranged at both ends. Consequently, the insulation distance between respective modules can be made small and the entire bulb constitution is miniatured, so that its inspection will be simplified.
