Abstract

1388104 Ni-Fe corrosion resistant alloy HENRY WIGGIN & CO Ltd 14 Jan 1974 [24 Jan 1973] 01685/74 Heading C7A Alloy of composition: Ni 38-42% Nb 1.5-2.5% Cr 14-17% C 0-0.08% Mo 5-7% Fe in an amount of 29-40% and impurities balance. The alloy may be prepared by induction, arc or electro-slag melting with additions of Al, Ti and Ca prior to casting and may be hot worked by rolling, forging or extrusion and may be subsequently cold rolled. The alloy may be annealed at 980-1149‹C for periods of at least one hour per 25 mm. section thickness air cooled or water quenched and displays good oxidation and corrosion resistance particularly in chloride containing environments. The alloy may be prepared in plate, sheet, strip, bar or rod form and may be used in the production of wrought products e.g. fume scrubbers and propeller shafts.
