Abstract

1387296 Yarn texturing apparatus ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS LTD 12 June 1972 [19 June 1971] 27328/72 Heading D1F Apparatus for simultaneously false twist crimping a plurality of synthetic thermoplastic yarns comprises a framework providing a mounting for a plurality of removable machine units each comprising an elongate linear support member 15 on which is mounted at least a first yarn forwarding mechanism 6, yarn heating means 8, yarn false twisting means 9 and drive transmission means e.g. shaft 22 coextensive with the support member 15, the first yarn forwarding mechanism e.g. rollers 6 being located in the region of one end of the support member 15 and being drivably connected to the transmission means 22, and a coupling element e.g. toothed wheel 19 adapted for releaseable connection with a driving motor 14 being located in the region of the other end of the support member 15 and being drivably connected with the transmission means 22. An auxiliary support member may be releasably secured to the support member 15 and the end adjacent the forwarding means 6. Another yarn forwarding means is mounted on the auxiliary support member and cooperates with the forwarding means 6 to form a yarn drawing mechanism 5. A yarn heating roller may be included in the yarn drawing mechanism 5. The drive from the motor 14 is transmitted to the yarn forwarding means 6, yarn drawing means 5 and means 10 forwarding the textured yarn, by means of toothed belts, toothed wheels, bevel gears and the shaft 22. The false twist means 9 is preferably in the form of a friction disc or a false twist spindle. The support member 15 is mounted in the frame of a multi-station texturing apparatus and is disposed in an upright plane at an angle of 10‹-60‹ to the horizontal. Adjacent support members 15 overlap each other in the upright plane. The textured yarn or drawn and textured yarn may be heat set by passage through a heater 11 downstream from the forwarding means 10 and upstream of yarn winding means 13. The heater 11 may be positioned in a vertical direction or inclined in the opposite direction to the associated support member 15. The winding means 13 is also connected to the associated drive motor 14, therefore any variations in motor speed are automatically reflected in all the rotating members in one station. Any one station may be stopped independent of the others. In a preferred embodiment two yarns are simultaneously textured at any one station.
