Abstract
1387138 Compressor capacity control devices PRESTCOLD Ltd 28 Aug 1973 [4 Aug 1972] 36417/72 Heading FIN [Also in Division F2 A compressor has a capacity control device comprising a valve member 19 which is displaced by a thrust rod 24 between a first position, towards which it is biased by a spring 23 and in which it closes a port 17 between an inlet channel 14 and a manifold 16 leading to a suction port 18 of the compressor, and a second position in which the rod 24 is retracted by a solenoid 27 to open the port 17. In the first position, the rod 24 obturates a duct 20 in the member 19 and, upon actuation of the solenoid 27, (e.g. by operation of a pressure sensitive transducer) initial retraction of the rod 24 opens the duct 20 to permit pressure equalization on either side of the member 19. Further retraction of the rod 24 causes a disc 30 to engage a circlip on the member 19 and thereafter displace the member 19 to open port 17.
