Abstract

1387090 Carrier package comprising a plurality of containers ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc 12 Nov 1973 [13 Nov 1972] 52432/73 Heading B8C A carrier package 10 comprises a plurality of containers 12 and a resilient elastic and deformable sheet of plastics material, having at least a pair of oppositely-arranged sockets 30 provided therein, each of said sockets being formed of a pair of, spaced-apart, circular portions 32 joined together by straight line portions 36, 38 the material adjacent each of the sockets having a peripheral measurement less than that of the corresponding containers associated therewith, whereby, upon insertion of the containers axially into the sockets, the aforementioned material is caused to stretch and deform to the shape of the containers and resiliently engage the containers to resist container withdrawal. As shown, the carrier 10, formed in a continuous process by stamping a roll of elastic and deformable plastics material, includes four sockets 30 for holding four one-quart cans 12 provided with enlarged lip portions 14 which fit over the encircling portions 16 of the carrier 10, and a handle 18 defined by a pair of slots 26, 28. Score lines 40, 42 facilitate bending of the plastics material around the upper ends of the cans 12.
