Abstract
1386515 X-ray apparatus US PHILIPS CORP 10 May 1972 [13 May 1971] 21830/72 Heading H5R X-ray apparatus comprises an X-ray tube 1 and a detector 2 connected to arms 4, 3 which extend parallel to a rotary shaft 8 to which they are connected by a yoke 5, the shaft being rotatable in a vertical slide 10 on a support 11 which is horizontally displaceable transverse to the shaft 8, the slide and support being movable on a carriage 13 along the axis of the shaft, and means being provided at the end of the shaft 8 remote from the yoke 5 to so contrain the adjustment of the apparatus as to maintain the X-ray beam direction always perpendicular to a selected plane. The constraining means consists of a coupling 18 rigidly connected to shaft 8 and slidable along a guide rod 20 which is carried by bushes 23. The bushes 23 can be locked electromagnetically at chosen points around a circular guide 26. The vertical and transverse movements of the shaft 8 must then be such as to move the coupling 18 along the guide rod 20. Springs 31 assist the vertical movement of slide 10.
