Abstract

138,623. Wilhelmi, D. F. Jan. 24, 1919. [Convention date]. Vulcanizing boots and shoes.-A vulcanizing mould consists of a last with heel and toe pieces capable of being extended and retracted, side moulds, and a base mould which can be put under pressure. A last 5 with movable toe and heel pieces G, 7 retracted is placed in a moulded shoe and side moulds 19 are placed in position, and locked by a closing piece 9 which engages projections on the side-moulds. This closing piece also carries a stud 8 which bears on two pivoted cams 10, 11 and forces out the toe and heel pieces 6, 7, as the mould is closed, to remove any wrinkles produced by the closing of the side moulds. The sole-mould 25 is finally placed in position and secured to the side moulds by bolts 26 to produce a mould capable of being put under great pressure.
