Abstract

Moulding boots.-Rubber shoes are moulded in two stages so that during the main vulcanizing process under pressure, a two-part mould can be used in which the cavities in each part diverge at all points towards the line of junction of the parts, thus providing for ready removal of the moulded article. In the illustrated form, an upper-forming mould 7 and sole mould 9 are assembled by means of the registering pins 14 and a.but along the junction line between the upper and sole of the shoe. The meeting edges form cutters to remove excess material when the mould parts are subjected to heat and pressure for vulcanizing in the known manner. The core 6 is inflated during the vulcanizing process. The vulcanized shoe is shaped finally to produce the completed article by placing it on a special last to bulge out the sides and rear of the heel portion and subjecting it to an after-cure without pressure while in this position.
