Abstract
1386185 Coupling pusher boats and barges TAISEI SEKKEI KOMU KK 16 Jan 1973 [6 March 1972] 2241/73 Heading B7S Shoes 8 carried by a pusher boat 3 are forced by hydraulic units 11 into frictional engagement with vertical channels 5 in the stern of a barge to hold the pusher boat and barge together. The shoes and the pins 7 on which they are mounted can rotate relative to the pusher boat about the axes of the pins. Relative pitching motion can thus occur. The pins 7 move in bearings 6. As illustrated, the forward wall of the channel is deeper than its rear wall. Thus, the pusher boat is positioned by moving it forwards until its shoes contact the forward wall of the channels and then moving the shoes outwards. The walls of the channel may, alternatively, have the same depth, Figs. 1-3 (not shown).
