Abstract

138,548. Marks, E. C. R., (Spardon Electrical Products Co.). July 9, 1919. Alarms operated by expansion of solids.-In an electric fire-alarm of the type in which a curved bimetallic strip operates a contact-making lever, the lever makes contact with a stud adapted to be attached directly to the base-plate in adjustable positions. On a base A of insulating material is mounted a plate 10 and a circular expansible strip B secured at one end to the plate 10 by a block 11. The free end of the strip B is engaged by the free end of a lever C, which extends through the end of the strip B and has sliding contact therewith, the end of the lever being hookshaped. The lever C is pivoted centrally by means of a bushing or sleeve 12 journaled in the plate 10, and is adapted to make contact with a pin D, which is adjustable in a series of holes 16 having a temperature scale associated therewith. One terminal of the device is connected to the pin D, and the other terminal to the plate 10 and thence to the lever C.
