Abstract
1385093 Control of D.C. motors OTIS ELEVATOR CO 1 Aug 1972 [9 Aug 1971] 35960/72 Heading H2J A lift CA controlled by a Ward-Leonard system, as described in Specification 1,174,075, travels at its rated speed until it is within a predetermined distance of a floor at which it is stopping, when it is slowed by removing a short circuit from a resistance circuit GF1-6 connected in series with a generator field 20 and a power amplifier 22, 23, 24. The short circuit is provided by either switches HXI and UXI for the resistors GF1, 3, 5 associated with upward travel or switches HX2 and DX1 for the "down" resistors GF2, 4, 6. Further switches LIR1, L2R1, L1R2, L2R2 are responsive to the load in the lift to selectively short out some of the resistors.
