Abstract
1385080 Change-speed gears KOMATSU SEISAKUSHO KK 27 Nov 1972 54610/72 Heading F2D One end of a drive shaft 24 for a press is connected through parallel planetary gear trains 3, 4 to a driven flywheel 12 to provide high and low speed drive and the other end of the shaft is clutchable to a clutch casing 71 formed with teeth 95 engaging an inching pinion 96. The flywheel shaft 13 supports one end of the drive shaft 24 in a bearing 20 and is formed with highspeed and low-speed suns 17, 18 engaging planets 45, 46 mounted in a planet carrier 23 splined to the shaft 24, the associated ring gears 33, 36 being adapted to be braked selectively by friction discs actuated by annular pistons 66, 61 in chambers 58, 53 connectible by passages 59, 54 to a source of compressed air. A plate 75 secured to the drive shaft 24 and the clutch casing 71 are provided with friction plates adapted to be engaged by springs 92 acting between the casing and a member 88 mounted on pins 90 secured to a cover-plate 84 and slidable in bores in the casing. To disengage the clutch, compressed air is supplied through a passage 94 to a chamber 86 formed between the plate 84 and the casing 71. Timing valves are provided in the pneumatic brake and clutch circuits.
