Abstract
1384555 Carbon recovery COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 1 Dec 1972 [20 Dec 1971] 58988/71 Heading C1A [Also in Division C3] The reinforcing carbon black contained in rubber products, e.g. tyres, is recovered by a process in which the rubber is contacted with a solvent selected from water and organic solvents having a critical temperature of 150‹ to 450‹ C., which solvent is in the gaseous phase, at a temperature above the critical temperature thereof, thereby degrading the rubber and dissolving at least part of the degradation products thereof in the gaseous phase and removing the gaseous phase from the solid, carbon-containing residue of the rubber. At least part of the degradation products of the rubber dissolved in the gaseous phase are condensed therefrom.
