1384272 Moulding a drill bit protector NOBLE DRILLING CORP H I LORENZ 18 Jan 1972 10393/73 Divided out of 1384271 Heading B5A [Also in Division E1] A protector 16 for a well drilling cone bit is cast by placing the inverted bit 10 in a moulding form 22, filling the lower part of the form with sand 30, positioning fluid conduits 31, 33a, 34 to extend from the bit outlet nozzles 28, inserting a core 32 of easily pulverized material, adding wooden elements 36, 37, pouring moulding material through the hole 37b, vibrating the form and waiting for the material to harden before removing the protector and bit. The parts 33a of the conduits may be filled with a foamed plastics and the conduits may be formed in single length and removed from the protector. The moulding material may be sand and cement or plastics and silica sand.
