Abstract

1384234 Hot work tools DUNFORD HADFIELDS Ltd 28 Jan 1972 [28 Jan 1971] 3428/71 Heading C7A A hot work tool is made from an austenitic steel, hardened by carbide precipitation, which comprises: - and at least one carbide former (e.g. W, V, Ti, Nb or Ta) in an amount sufficient to cause precipitation hardening, the remainder, apart from incidental impurities, being Fe. The alloy may contain the following elements in the specified maximum amounts (% by wt):- V 4, Mo 5, W 5, Ti 5, Nb/Ta 5, Al 2, Zr 2, Bi 2, Co 5, N 0À2 and B 0À5 and P 0À02-0À5%. The alloy may be solution treated at 1000-1300‹C and aged at 300-950‹C.
