Abstract

1383379 Washers; spring washers ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS. Inc 18 Feb 1972 [5 Aug 1971] 7712/72 Headings F2H and F2S An annular, centrally apertured spring washer 10 comprises a substantially frusto-conical radially outer portion 12, a substantially frustoconical radially inner portion 14 axially offset with respect to the outer portion and having a basically polygonal outer periphery, and a strut portion 16 which integrally joins the inner and outer portions, the strut portion having a wall extending substantially parallel to the axis of the washer and protuberances 18 located intermediate the corners of the inner portion periphery to buttress the strut portion when the washer is clamped between a work surface and a fastener 20. The protuberances 18 merge into the outer portion 12 and define surfaces which are engaged by a fastener so that the outer portion is firmly and uniformly clamped and, if required, sealed against a work surface.
