1383272 Preservation of cut blooms CANADIAN PATENTS & DEVELOPMENT Ltd 2 April 1973 [12 April 1972] 15686/73 Heading A2D A composition for preserving cut plant stems and floral blooms comprises (a) sucrose, in up to about 500 parts; (b) isoascorbic or ascorbic acid or a water-soluble salt thereof in an amount from 0.8 to 2 parts; and (c) 8-hydroxyquinoline or a water-soluble salt thereof in an amount from 0.4 to 1 part, all by weight. The composition is preferably used in the form of an aqueous, acidic solution. The plant and blooms are preserved by maintaining their stems wet with the solution.
