Abstract
1382978 Flexible printing plates; saddles ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL CORP 9 May 1973 [12 June 1972] 22102/73 Heading B6C A flexible printing plate 61, Fig. 3, is secured to a printing cylinder through the intermediary of a saddle 11 which carries at each end radially restraining clamping and plate tensioning means whereby the cylinder when carrying the saddle may be used in a machine in either rotational direction. The plate ends are prepared with predetermined spaced slots and the tensioning means are actuated by the pivotal movement of an associated bell crank lever 37 shown in plan view in Fig. 2. Such movement has the effect of moving circumferentially tangs 51, 52 which are engaged in the trailing edge of the plate. Fig. 3, shows in part a cylinder mounting two printing plates 61 the right-hand side of the Figure showing a clamped leading edge whilst the left-hand side shows a tensioned trailing edge.
