Abstract

1382957 Wells &c ENTREPRISE DE RECHERCHES ET D'ACTIVITES PETROLIERES (ELF) 25 April 1973 [27 April 1972] 19628/73 Heading E1F [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for lowering a production liner 2 into a well comprises a member 1 fixed to the liner and supported during lowering by balls 14 in apertures 5 of a support member 4 and forced into a groove 3 in the member 1 by a sleeve 10. The support member 4 has an end fitting 6 connected to a lowering cable 8. The sleeve 10 is held in the lowering position against the pressure of a spring 11 by balls 15 and a sleeve 16 fixed to the support member 4 by a shear pin 20. The liner and member 1 are released from the member 4 by dropping a weight 25 down the cable to shear the pin 20 to permit the sleeve 10 to rise to free the balls from the member 1.
