Abstract
1,026,525. Wells, &c. R. A. LINES. April 30, 1963 [May 1, 1962], No. 16894/64. Heading E1F. Apparatus for forcing casing into a borehole comprises a frame (not shown), a ground engaging plate 10, jacks 14 between the plate and the frame, an apertured plate 20 slidable on guides 17, and an adapter 41 releasably fixed in the aperture and having means at the lower end for connecting to casing 56. The plate 20 has cylinders 18 engaging the guides which are rams having pistons 19 connected to the cylinders to move the plate 20 relative to the plate 10. The adapter has a bayonet connection for engagement with the casing, and is held in the aperture by a "C" shaped member (not shown) which engages a groove 59 (Fig. 3, not shown) in the adapter and the underside of the plate 20. The connections between the plate 10, and the rams 14 and guides are universal joints 16, 23. The lower part of one guide has plates 26 (Fig. 1, not shown), the ends of which are resiliently connected to the lower part of a ram 14.
