1382895 Mounting transparencies EASTMAN KODAK CO 9 Nov 1972 [10 Nov 1971(2)] 51785/72 Heading G2X Apparatus for sealing a photographic mount having first and second parts in overlying relationship, the second part having a number of pins which extend through corresponding openings in the first part, is characterized by means for passing the mount between a roller and a support so that the pins are peened over the holes by the roller. As shown in Fig.2, the mount, for a print or transparency 10, rests on the second mount part 3 from which extend a number of pins 5. Hinged to part 3 along an edge 6 is the first mount part 2, which has a number of corresponding holes. This is laid on a table 16 having two guide bars 23, 24 between which the mount can slide. The mount is pushed in the direction of arrow 22 by a sliding carriage 18 until it comes into abutment with a wall member 25 having an inclined cam plate 27 at its lower end. Thus as the mount continues to be pushed in the direction of arrow 22, mount part 2 is folded over towards part 3, and finally, as the mount passes between the table edge 28 and the lower edge 29 of cam plate 27, parts 2 and 3 are brought together in overlying relationship, the pins 5 engaging through the holes 4. The mount now passes between a pair of rollers 30, 31, which are spaced apart a distance slightly less than the combined thickness dimension of the mount. Roller 31 is mounted on a fixed shaft 33, but roller 33 is mounted on a shaft 32 which can move against the action of springs 40, 41 urging it towards roller 31. Rubber rings 42, 43, acting as spacing members, are mounted on roller 30. As the mount is moved into the nip between the rollers, its leading edge 46 is deflected by roller 31 into contact with roller 30. The pins 5 are peened over the holes 4, as seen in Fig.4, the rollers being of sufficiently hard material to effect this.
