Abstract

1398322 Photographic apparatus POLAROID CORP 29 June 1972 [7 July 1971] 30558/72 Heading G2X Photographic apparatus for spreading between a pair of sheet materials, constituting a film unit, a processing liquid which is contained or has been applied between the said sheet materials, the apparatus comprising: a pair of rollers 34, 36; a pair of bearing blocks 38, 40 between which the rollers are mounted for rotation in substantially parallel alignment, the bearing blocks being so formed as to establish a gap of a predetermined minimum spacing between the rollers and to permit at least one of the rollers to be displaced away from the other; resilient means (e.g. U-shaped springs 42, 44) for resiliently urging the displaceable roller towards the other roller at least when the spacing between the rollers is greater than or greater by a predetermined distance than the said predetermined minimum spacing; and a platform 46 for guiding the film unit towards the gap, the platform additionally including guiding means (e.g. tracks partially defined by walls 68, 70) for guiding the resilient means into its operative relationship with the rollers during assembly of the apparatus. As shown the apparatus is a self-processing camera (10) using diffusion transfer film units having a pod of processing liquid between the photosensitive and image-receiving sheets. Roller 36 is mounted in an elongate recess 60 and urged towards roller 34 by a pair of U-springs 44 mounted on walls 68, 70 of base-plate 72 of a platform 46 having a surface 122 for guiding film units between the rollers. A bar 48 clipped on to a bracket (126) on platform 46 is pushed by spring 50 against a bridge 104 so that fingers 140 prevent escape of processing liquid from the edge of the sheets. Bridge 104 also has a surface (120) which guides a leader on the film unit through the rollers and an exit (108) when a tab on unit extending through a channel (118) is pulled. The assembly (12) is held in the camera by a latch 144 which co-operates with a brace (146) which also serves in the usual manner to prevent premature advancement of a receiving sheet.
