Abstract

1382861 Benzotriazole derivatives EAST- MAN KODAK CO 30 March 1972 [6 April 1971] 15097/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Novel photographic colour couplers containing at least one group of the formula attached directly or via a bridging group to a coupling or non-coupling position on the coupler moiety, the group of Formula I together with its bridging group being capable of splitting off during colour development if attached to a coupling position, wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>6</SP>, R<SP>7</SP> and R<SP>8</SP> are each hydrogen or halogen atoms or an alkyl, alkenyl, hydroxy, amino, substituted amino, sulpho, carboxy, alkoxy, alkylthio or acyloxy group or an aryloxy or arylthio group of which the aryl may be substituted or an oxygen- or nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group, R<SP>2</SP> may have any of the meanings given for R<SP>1</SP> when attached in the position ortho to the hydroxy group or, when in the para position, it may be an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl group, are prepared by conventional methods. The products also act as U.V. absorbers.
