Abstract

1,030,887. Photosensitive compositions. HORIZONS Inc. Sept. 1, 1964 [Sept. 17,1963], No. 35784/64. Heading G2C. A print out composition comprises a mixture of (1) a leuco compound represented by one of the formulae. wherein each R is H, alkyl or aryl,R 2 is H, alkyl, aryl or where each R 3 is H, alkyl, aryl, halophenyl or methyl phenyl and R 4 is H or methyl, and Z is O, S, Se or NH and (2) a colourless nitrogen-containing compound which is a triazole or a heterocyclic ketimide in which the imide nitrogen is attached to a ring carbon in a heterocyclic nucleus having 5 or 6 atoms in the hetero-ring. Specified leuco dyes (1) are leuco-crystal violet, -malachite green, -opal blue, -methylene blue, -rosaniline or -parrrosaniline, p, p<SP>1</SP>, p<SP>11</SP> -trimethyl leuco opal blue, p, p<SP>1</SP>, p<SP>11</SP> -trichloro leuco opal blue, p, p<SP>1</SP> -(dimethylamino)diphenyl methane, 3, 6-bis(dimethylamino)- 9-(p-dimethylamino phenyl)xanthene(D-179), 3, 6- bis(diethylamino)-9-(p-dimethylamino phenyl) xanthene, 3. 6-bis(diephylamino)-9-(p-diethylamino phenyl)xanthere and 3, 6-bis(dimethylamino)-9- (p-dimethylamino phenyl)thioxanthene. Specified compounds (2) are 3-x-naphthylisoxazol-5-one imide, 1 -phenyl - 3 -(3 -naphthyl) - 5-pyrazolone imide, 1-p-nitro phenyl-3-3-naphthyl-5-pyrazolone-imide, benzotriazole and 5-chloro-benzo triazole. The composition may be dispersed in styrene and coated on a polyester or paper support. The image is fixed by solvent-wash e.g.with acetone/petroleum ether or heat.
