1382763 Motor vehicle ventilation ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 1 Feb 1973 [1 Feb 1972] 5057/73 Heading F4V An air-conditioning system for motor vehicles comprises a regulating lever 19 controlling the temperature of the air supplied, and a second lever 12 controlling the volume of the air supplied, the range of movement of lever 12 being limited by contact with the levers 19 so that the volume of air does not fall below a given minimum depending on the temperature of the air supplied. This provision prevents the heat-exchanger 2 overheating. The lever 19 may be manually controlled or, as shown, controlled by the temperature of the air downstream of the heat exchanger 2 being urged by spring 21 against the movable pin 22 of a thermal expansion element 23. This element may be itself mounted in the air duct acting on lever 19 directly or through a Bowden cable. Or it may be on the control panel 10 and heated in accordance with the temperature of the air in the duct. The volume of air entering the duct may be regulated by lever 12 through a Bowden cable 15 and flap 6 and Bowden cable 16 and the speed control 5 of fan 4. Movement of lever 12 to reduce the flow of air is limited by abutment with lever 19. As the temperature increases lever 19 will displace lever 12 to increase the flow.
