Abstract
1382670 Dynamo-electric machines COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE 24 April 1972 [29 April 1971] 18966/72 Heading H2A A rotor position sensor in a brushless electric motor comprises a slotted stator carrying exciter and detector windings co-operating with a cam carried by the motor rotor. Fig. 1 shows a developed view of part of a 24 slot stator in which each detector winding, e.g. D1, occupies two adjacent slots, e.g. 2, 3, and the exciter windings comprise two overlapping series of coils having their coil sides in alternate slots. The sensor shown is for a motor having a twopole rotor and the cam has a single cut-out 25. For a six pole rotor motor the cam has three cut-outs, Fig. 4 (not shown), spaced at 120 degree intervals and the sensor stator has three groups of 12 detector windings, each group occupying 120 degrees of the stator periphery, and each winding is connected in series or parallel with two other windings at 120 degree spacing.
