Abstract
1382569 Automatic control of pressure BBC BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 29 May 1973 [31 May 1972] 25335/73 Heading G3R In a system for replenishing a container of a gas (SF6) which may liquify at ambient temperatures, in response to detection of its pressure dropping to a predetermined value, replenishment is prevented if a predetermined level of liquid is detected. The object is to prevent the addition of gas if the pressure drop is due to liquefaction. The container I is a buffer store associated with electrical equipment (not shown) connected to pump 3 via filter 4. Replenishment for leakage is effected from a source 5. When a solenoid valve 7 is opened by the closure of a relay 18, 19 actuated by a pressure switch 8, provided a second relay 16, 17 is closed. However, this is opened in response to a signal from a liquid detector 10 placed preferably in the bottom of the container 1. As shown the detector comprises a temperature responsive resistor in a bridge circuit, heated by the bridge current to a temperature which depends upon whether it is surrounded by gas or liquid. Alternatively it may be a capacitor in a bridge, the gas or liquid forming the dielectric, a photoelectric level detector or a float switch. The two relays comprise an AND gate.
