Abstract

1382354 Clutch control SOC ANON FRAN. CAISE DU FERODO 18 Aug 1972 [20 Aug 1971] 38642/72 Addition to 1126058 Heading F2L In a clutch release thrust bearing assembly wherein a bearing 25 has limited radial movement relative to a bearing carrier 22, a radial flange 23 of the bearing carrier is made of synthetic plastics material and is in direct frictional engagement with the outer race 28 of the bearing. The outer race 28 may be held in engagement with the flange 23 by a corrugated spring 29 acting between the outer race and a cap 31. Alternatively (Figs. 6-10, not shown), the natural resilience of the cap 31 may be utilized to hold the bearing against the flange 23. The cap 31 may be made of plastics material and secured to the flange 23 or may (Fig. 1, not shown) be a metal cap secured to the flange 23. The bearing carrier 22 may be formed integrally with a guide tube 24. As shown, a plate 40 secured to the flange 23 has lugs 41 which are engaged by the clutch release fork. In Fig. 8 (not shown), the clutch release fork acts on lugs (23a) formed integrally with the flange 23. In Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown), the bearing carrier is formed integrally with pivot pins (59) which engage the release fork.
