Abstract
1382222 Explosive compositions CANADIAN INDUSTRIES Ltd 10 Jan 1973 [11 Jan 1972] 1259/73 Heading C1D A liquid explosive composition for fracturing a subterranean formation having narrow fissures adjacent a well bore comprises diethylene glycol dinitrate (DEGDN) having dissolved therein a nitrated aromatic compound or a partly nitrated polyol compound as a freezing point depressant; examples of such compounds are ethylene glycol mononitrate, nitrated ethylbenzene, nitrated dimethylbenzene, and mixtures of trinitrotoluene and dinitrotoluene. As a stabilizer, diphenyldiethylurea, diphenylamine, or a substituted phenylurea or phenylurethane may be included. A thickener, for example soluble nitrocotton (containing water) may also be present. A minor part of the DEGDN may be replaced by nitroglycerine, ethylene glycol dinitrate, or trimethylolethane trinitrate.
