Abstract
1382061 Photodegradable polyolefin articles IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 16 May 1972 [9 June 1971] 19665/71 Heading C3P Photodegradable films, containers and string are made from compositions comprising a polymer derived from ethylene, propylene, butene-1 or 4-methylpentene-1, optionally with a minor proportion of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate or acrylic or methacrylic acids or esters and as prodegradant ferrocene or a C 1-18 alkyl or cycloalkyl ferrocene or a C 1-11 alkyl keto ferrocene. The compositions may be formed by mixing in the absence of solvents, and optionally melting, homogenizing, extruding and chopping the mixture; and may be made into films, strings and containers. In examples low and high density polyethylenes are mixed with ferrocene and various ferrocene derivatives and pressed or extruded into sheet or film.
