Abstract

1293120 Blowing agents concentrates PHILLIPS PETROLEUM CO 19 April 1971 [17 April 1970] 27287/71 Heading C3C A blowing agent concentrate for addition to extrudable plastics material comprises a mixture of a solid ethylene polymer of density, not exceeding 0À935 gm./c.c. and a blowing agent in an amount of from 8 to 15 parts by weight per 100 parts of the ethylene polymer. The ethylene polymer is a homopolymer of ethylene or a copolymer containing a major proportion of ethylene and a minor proportion of at least one other 1-olefin. Specified agents are sodium bicarbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, azobisformamide, 4,4<SP>1</SP> - oxybis - (benzenesulphonylhydrazide), and benzenesulphonylhydrazide. The concentrates may be incorporated in resins such as polystyrene, acrylonitrile-butadienestyrene terpolymers, polyvinyl chloride, nylon, polyester, polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene, and copolymers of olefins, and may be used to form cellular articles.
