Abstract

1471665 Foamed olefine polymers/antioxidant films IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 June 1974 [3 July 1973] 31565/73 Heading C3C A dry strippable wallcovering comprises a foamed film having 40-90% by volume of the foam cells as open cells and a bulk density of less than 0À5 g. cm.<SP>-3</SP>, the film comprising a blend of low density (viz. less than 0À934 g. cm.<SP>-3</SP>) polyethylene and a different crystalline olefine homopolymer or copolymer of two or more olefines, and containing 0À05-0À5% by weight of an anti-oxidant. In the examples blends of the olefine polymer, titanium dioxide; 2 - hydroxy - 4 - octyloxy benzophenone or 2,2<SP>1</SP>,4,4<SP>1</SP> - tetrahydroxy benzophenone as U.V. light stabilizer; and tris-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4- hydroxybenzyl) - isocyanurate, pentaerythritol tetra - #- 3,5 - di - t - butyl - 4 - hydroxyphenyl propionate, 1,1,3 - tris - (2 - methyl - 5<SP>1</SP> - tbutyl - 4 - hydroxyphenyl) - butane or dilauryl thiodipropionate as anti-oxidant were extruded into foamed films using pentane as blowing agent and nitrogen as nucleating agent by the process of Specification 1,220,053 and the films were optionally discharge treated.
