Abstract

1381005 Silver halide materials FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 10 March 1972 [11 March 1971] 11422/72 Heading G2C A photographic light-sensitive material comprises a support bearing at least one silver halide emulsion layer and at least one subsidiary layer, wherein at least one of the layers contains or consists of an antistatic agent comprising an ester derivative of an α-sulphofatty acid and a polyhydric alcohol represented by the formula:- wherein R is an aliphatic group having at least 6C; M represents H, an alkali metal atom e.g. Na, K, or a quaternary ammonium group; Y is the residue of the polyhydric alcohol containing from 2 to 20C and having at least one OH group; and n is an integer from 1 to 7. Y is preferably a residue of sorbital, sorbitan or saccharose, but may also be ethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, 1, 4 dicyclo-hexane dimethanol, glycerol, 1, 2, 4- butanetriol, 1, 2, 6-hexanetriol, trimethylol propane, 2, 2, 6, 6-tetramethylol cyclohexanol, pentaerythritol or raffinose. The antistatic agent also improves the coating properties of the emulsion.
