1380755 Dressing yarns SCHWEITER ENG WORKS Ltd 1 Dec 1972 [7 July 1971] 55638/ 72 Heading D1F In apparatus for applying wax e.g. paraffin, to a running yarn F according to the parent specification, the counter surface of counter member 1 (by which the yarn is pressed against the end surface of a wax body 38) is of generally projecting conical form and operates as a centring or positioning point for the body (which has a complementary recessed conical form) whereby wobbling of the body during its rotation is avoided and uniform wax application is ensured. As shown, the counter surface, formed by a pair of elements or plugs 14, 6, comprises a surface 14' formed with a recess or notch 50 and another surface 6' embraced thereby. Radially extending and axially projecting ribs 114 on surface 14' diminish frictional engagement between the yarn and the counter surface.
