Abstract

1380482 Fixing apparatus MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 16 Aug 1972 [18 Aug 1971] 38193/72 Heading G2H Apparatus for fixing a developed image 80 on the surface of a photo-conductive film 11 comprises a chamber 20 having an inlet 22 for liquid fixing solvent and an evaporation means 30 including an evaporation dish 33 and an evaporation plate 34 for evaporating liquid solvent supplied to the inlet into the space 36 formed between the film 11 and the plate 34. Liquid solvent is supplied to the dish 33 through a metering device 40 comprising a movable valve rod 48. Solvent vapour leaving the dish passes through slot 35 into the space 36 and finally leaves the apparatus through a vent 23. The dish and the plate 34 are heated by electric heating element 32. The chamber 20 may be movable on a rod 61 into and out of contact with a frame 10 surrounding and supporting the film 11. The frame 10 may be supported in a guide rail 70. The film may comprise a photo-conductive layer (e.g. Poly -N- vinyl-carbazole), a conductive layer (e.g. cuprous iodide) and a support of cellulose triacetate or polyethylene prephthalate. The solvent may be methylene chloride, methyl chloroform, toluene trichloroethylene, benzene or chlorobenzene.
