Abstract

1380377 Forging presses SCHLOEMANN AG 28 March 1973 [8 April 1972] 14842/73 Heading B3H A forging press has a frame composed of an upper platen 7, a lower platen 5 and four columns 6 slidable relative to an intermediate platen 1 in multi-part bushes 13 in the intermediate platen, the bushes having supporting surfaces 15 for wedges 12 which slidably engage the surfaces of the columns and have guide surfaces parallel to the line between diagonally opposite columns. The intermediate platen may be fixed and the frame movable by a underfloor piston-cylinder unit 3, 4 or the frame may be fixed and the platen movable. The columns have circular cross-section ends and a square or rectangular cross-section central zone providing guide surfaces 11. The wedges are adjusted by screws (17), Fig. 3 (not shown). The columns may each be composed of an outer sleeve and a tie rod under tension.
