1379582 Beverage powders MARIA CLEMENTINE MARTIN KLOSTERFRAU VERTRIEBSGESELLSCHAFT mbH 26 Nov 1971 [26 Nov 1970] 55037/71 Heading C6E A dry preparation for making an aqueous or aqueous/alcoholic beverage comprises an effervescent couple in intimate admixture with a natural protein in the weight ratio 1:0À5 to 1:3. It may be prepared by drying a solution of a dispersible native protein and one component of the effervescent couple (i.e. an edible acid plus a compound which evolves CO 2 in acid solution) and mixing with the other component. Preferably both components are dissolved in protein solutions and dried before mixing. The protein may be derived from whey by dialysis. The product is preferably in the form of granules of 0À5-3 mm diameter. The composition may also contain one or more of a vitamin, a mineral salt, or an agent which imparts aroma, flavour, or colour. The composition may be free of sodium ions, containing physiologically tolerable potassium salts.
