Abstract

137,933. Down, T. M. Feb. 14, 1919. Gun cartridges.-Consists in making front ignition cartridges with (1) a central tube a containing a strand of gun-cotton k and having notches f at the front end for conveying ignition from the primer l to the front of the propellent charge c, and (2) an asbestos wad d beneath the ordinary wad e. The cartridge case, if of paper, may have an interior lining of metal. The charge c is compressed in layers or built up of flat rings with intermediate washers ofpaper.
