Abstract

1379142 Transfer element COLUMBIA RIBBON and CARBON MFG CO Inc 7 Nov 1972 [29 Dec 1971] 51303/72 Heading D2B A process for preparing a self-supporting liquid ink-releasing, transfer element comprises (a) applying to a casting surface a thin layer of a composition comprising a synthetic thermoplastic film-forming resin, a solid pore forming material and a volatile liquid vehicle, (b) forming the layer into a self-supporting layer containing the solid pore-forming material, (c) removing the solid pore-forming material to form a porous layer; (d) and impregnating the porous layer with liquid non-drying ink to produce the transfer element. A backing layer of synthetic thermoplastic film-forming resin may be applied over the porous layer to improve the durability of the transfer element.
