Abstract

1378820 Hydrogen M SUZUKI 7 April 1972 [16 April 1971 26 Oct 1971] 16192/72 Heading C1A A process for the manufacture of hydrogen gas comprises vigorously stirring magnesium and one or more of silicon, aluminium, iron, zinc, tin, nickel, boron, red phosphorus, chromium, copper, manganese, carbon, calcium, titanium, zirconium, and compounds of these in particle or powder form with water in the presence of potassium or sodium chloride to accelerate the magnesium/water reaction. The amount of magnesium in the mixture may be from 10 to 50% by weight that of the additional substance from 5-40% by weight and that of the potassium or sodium chloride from 5 to 70% by weight.
