Abstract

1378461 Boots &c B F BROOKER 4 Dec 1972 [14 Jan 1972] 1896/72 Heading A3B A stud for footwear (Fig. 3) includes a head 7 of plastics material, such as a polyvinyl chloride composition, moulded onto a shank or insert 1 of thermoplastic material, such as nylon or an acetal resin, the shank or insert 1 having a keying formation within the head 7. The head 7 is formed with projections 9 and has a concave face 8 to'ensure that, when the stud is screwed into a socket, there is tension applied to the threads 2. In a first embodiment (Fig. 2) the keying formation on the insert 1 includes a projection 1a and a flange 3 formed with apertures 4. In a second embodiment (Fig. 1) the keying formation includes a flange 3 formed with apertures 4 and a projection 6, and also includes a pair of crossed arch formations 5. In a modification (not shown) the apertures 4 and projections 6 are omitted and the arch formations 5 are asymmetric.
