1377969 Bis-benzimidazolyl-sulphones E R SQUIBB & SONS Inc 8 Dec 1971 [11 Dec 1970] 57093/71 Heading C2C Novel compounds (I) (including salts thereof) where R is OH, alkoxy, amido, amino, mono- or di-alkyl amino, -NHCOOR<SP>3</SP> (where R<SP>3</SP> is alkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl), alkyl, NO 2 , ureido, SCN, halo, aralkyl, SH, aryl or alkaryl, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>21</SP> are H, alkyl, acyl or optionally substituted aryl, m is 1 or 2, n is 0 or 1, n<SP>1</SP> is 0 to 4 and n+n<SP>1</SP> is 4 or less are obtained by reacting (II) with (III) (or with the corresponding sulphide and thereafter oxidizing the product obtained to give (I) via the sulphoxide). Pharmaceutical preparations showing anthelmintic action contain (I) as active ingredient. Administration is preferably orally.
