Abstract

1377888 Laminated woodchip board TH GOLDSCHMIDT AG 5 July 1973 [5 July 1972] 32183/73 Heading B5N [Also in Division B2] A coated and impregnated decorative paper is applied to wood chip boards by using a urea resin glue and pressing the paper between aluminium plates at, for example, 140‹ C. under a pressure of 5 kp./cm<SP>2</SP>. The paper is impregnated with urea or melamine resin and the decorative side has intermediate and top coats which form a glossy surface on pressing and heating. The intermediate layer is a macromolecular compound containing -OH or -NH 2 groups and may be polysaccharides, carboxy) methylcellulose, nitrocellulose, proteins (e.g. casein), polyvinyl alcohol or polyalkyleneglycol. The top coat is a varnish of; a self-cross-linking polyacrylic and/or methacrylic acid ester, nitrile or amide; hydroxyl containing alkyd; -OH or -NH 2 group containing polyurethane; or the reaction product of an alkyd containing hydroxyl groups with an etherified amino resin.
