1377586 Submerged storage tank PITTSBURGH-DES MOINES STEEL CO 13 Sept 1972 42561/72 Heading B7A A storage tank 1 comprises a roofed shell R, S, separate and independent tanks B, 13 carried by the roofed shell and valves 11, 12 connected to tanks 13 to control the ballast required to submerge the roofed shell. The tanks B and 13 have a buoyancy less than the weight of the roofed shell and are incapable of floating the roofed shell without gas being provided within it. Auxiliary buoyancy tanks A separate from tanks B and 13 are also carried by the roofed shell and these auxiliary tanks are also incapable of floating the roofed shell without gas being provided within it. The tanks B and 13 and the auxiliary tanks together are able to float the roofed shell without gas being provided within it.
