Abstract

1377584 Mobile scaffolding ISHIKAWAJIMA-HARIMA JUKOGYO KK 13 Jan 1972 1731/72 Heading E1S A mobile scaffolding unit, for use in the interior of a ship's hull, comprises a wheeled carriage 3 supporting working platforms 8, 8' and a pair of foldable extensions 2 mounted on opposite sides of the unit, the extensions 2 also having a plurality of working platforms. As shown, the extensions 2 are pivoted to the top of the unit and, in use, rest on the floor through pillars 13 with their step-like platforms lying horizontally, extension and retraction thereof being effected by motors 11, 12, 15. The carriage wheels 4 are motor driven and mounted on telescopically extensible members 7 of the carriage. In a modification (Fig. 7, not shown), each extension comprises working platforms carried by telescopic and angularly adjustable columns which are pivotally mounted at their base on an auxiliary wheeled carriage detachable from the main carriage, this auxiliary carriage having a retractable pedestal which may be lowered by an air cylinder to contact the floor and lift the carriage and wheels from the floor, thereby to rotatably support the carriage.
