Abstract

848,277. Shovelling equipment. MIDWESTERN INDUSTRIES Inc. April 14, 1958 [April 25, 1957], No. 11716/58. Class 68(1). To enable a shovel unit to be moved from an upright operative position at the rear of a lorry chassis to a position overlying the chassis when being transported between work sites the shovel unit 31 is pivotally mounted about a horizontal axis 18 on a carriage 15 running along a pair of parallel rails 13, 14 that can be detachably secured to a vehicle chassis 11. The carriage is moved to and fro by a double-acting jack 16 and the shovel unit is swung by double-acting jacks 21, 22. Adjustable ground-engaging legs 30 and bracing struts 34 are provided for stabilizing the boom-carrying frame 30 of the shovel unit when the unit is in use.
