Abstract

1377360 Liquid/solid contact apparatus FISONS Ltd 23 Nov 1971 [8 Dec 1970] 58130/70 Heading B1F [Also in Division Cl] In reaction vessel 1, liquid/solid reaction mixture in compartment A passes through compartment B to compartment C via basal ports in partitions 3 and 4, part of the reaction mixture overflows partition 5 into compartment D for removal and filtration whereas the rest of the mixture pases down draft tube 2 back to compartment A. The reaction mixture may be phosphate rock/phosphoric acid/sulphuric acid mixture for the production of phosphoric acid. The reactor of the invention may also be used for the production of boric acid from calcium borate, e.g. colemanite, with sulphuric acid.
