Abstract

137,725. Balfour, J. W. B. May 5, 1919. Pulverulent fuel burners; spray burners; liquid fuel supply. - Pulverulent and liquid fuel burners for use in furnaces and boilers consist of two concentric cylinders 1, 2 with tunnel-shaped caps 4, 6, the outer of which terminates in the burner nozzle 14, and with means for heating the fuel and mixing it with air and subsequently with steam. Pulverulent fuel is supplied to the inner cylinder by the pipe 9, and liquid fuel by the coiled pipe 8. Preheated air is supplied at 10 and mixed with the fuel by means of the perforated baffle-plates 12. Steam is supplied by the pipe 11 to the annular space between the two cylinders and delivered' through perforations in the plate 5 to the space between the two caps or nozzles 4, 6 to mix with the fuel and air issuing through the inner nozzle, the final mixture being discharged through the nozzle 14, where it is ignited. Specification 118,386 is referred to.
