Abstract

1376990 Steering wheel covers OYLER & CO Ltd 8 March 1973 [23 June 1972] 29694/72 Heading B7J A steering wheel glove comprises a strip of covering material 1 intended to be fitted over and around a steering wheel rim, and held thereon by a means such as a thong which secures together the longitudinal edges of the material 1 and engages in reinforcing strips 3 affixed along respective edges of the material 1. Holes 6 are provided along the strips 3 and material 1 to receive the thong. The covering material 1 has no natural tendency to adopt a curved disposition and is flexed to fit over the rim. The covering material strip 1 is preferably a closed loop of leather and has a co-extensive foamed plastics backing 2. The reinforcing strips 3 are of PVC leather cloth which is folded around the longitudinal edges of the material 1 and backing 2, and affixed thereto by lines of stitching 4. An edge portion 5 of each strip 3 is turned under on itself so that an additional layer thereof receives the stitching 4.
