Abstract

In sports garments, areas of flexure, such as the shoulder or elbow of a jacket, are provided with inserts of an extensible laminate, offering ease of movement and protection against knocking or rubbing. The laminate has seams sewn across while it is held in a frame to effect a ribbed or tubular appearance throughout its thickness. The structure comprises a layer of latex fabric, a sheet of plastics foam and an outer layer of textile fabric or leather, or similar material. The inserts are provided in garments, e.g. jerkins for motor-cyclists, or combination garments for sporting activities.
